Scheffler Wins PGA Player Award For Fourth Time
Scottie Scheffler earned his fourth PGA Tour Player of the Year award on December 15, 2025. Peers voted him the winner over Rory McIlroy, Tommy Fleetwood, and Ben Griffin.
The Jack Nicklaus Award recognizes the top performer across the full season. Scheffler now ties Tiger Woods, Jack Nicklaus, and Tom Watson with four honors each.
He also becomes the second man, since Woods, to win the award four years in a row. The PGA Tour announced the result alongside Aldrich Potgieter as Rookie of the Year.
Scheffler claimed six PGA Tour titles, including the PGA Championship and The Open Championship. He posted 17 top-10 finishes in 20 starts, with no missed cuts. His victories also covered events like the Memorial Tournament and Travelers Championship.
The American topped the tour in strokes gained total at 2.743 per round, strokes gained tee-to-green at 2.361, and scoring average of 68.131.
Those numbers edged out McIlroy’s strong year with three wins and Fleetwood’s consistency. He played 25 worldwide events, showing his full commitment to the game.
PGA Tour CEO Brian Rolapp noted Scheffler’s impact in a statement: “Scottie’s consistent level of success has been nothing short of spectacular as he continues to chase history on the PGA Tour, and we’re excited to see what he will deliver in 2026.”
The 29-year-old Texan started his streak in 2022 with three wins. He repeated in 2024 after near-sweeping majors. This fourth award at age 29 positions him to chase Woods’ record of 11.
Scheffler plans fewer early 2026 starts before defending the Masters. Golf observers track if he extends the record next season. Votes from his peers took into account full-year results across majors, stats, and volume.
The award voting closed post-season, meaning it captured complete performance data, which saw Scheffler come out on top.
