Indian shooter Manu Bhaker was on cloud nine after winning her second Olympic medal in Paris on Tuesday. The 22-year-old clinched the Bronze medal with her partner Sarabjot Singh in the 10m pistol mixed team event, beating South Korea 16-10 at the Paris Olympics.
Bhaker and Singh lost the first series with the latter shooting only 8.6. However, the duo bounced back in style to take a 14-6 lead as they came up with consistent shooting.
But the Korean pair of Oh Ye Jin, who won the Gold medal in 10m pistol singles event, and Lee Wonho won the next two sets. However, the Indian pair hit 19.6 as compared to Korea’s 18.5 to seal the deal.
With this medal, Manu Bhaker becomes the first Indian woman to win two medals at a single Olympics edition. Furthermore, she becomes the second Indian woman after PV Sindhu to win two Olympic medals.
“I feel proud, and I feel a lot of gratitude that I was able to achieve it. It’s just a blessing. Thank you so much for all the blessings and love,” Manu Bhaker told JioCinema.
“We can’t control it. We wanted to give our best. Before coming here, me and my partner decided to try our best and accept whatever came our way. We will try and give our best until the final shot,” Manu said, reflecting on how the Indian duo handled pressure.
On the other hand, Sarabjot Singh was also delighted after he made history with Manu Bhaker.
“The pressure was high, but the crowd was great. I am so happy,” Sarabjot said.
Bhaker will be in action in the women’s 25m pistol event.
