Indian superstar wrestler Mahabali Shera returned to action on Impact Wrestling last week. There he emerged from under the ring and acted as a secret weapon for Hakim Zane to defeat Mega TP.
In a recent interview, he shared his story of returning to the ring and then problems involving his father’s health and also COVID-19. Shera’s time off the ring was not as cracking as his return was as he lost his father during the break.
“I had to take a break and go to India as my father was battling cancer. Sadly, he was terminally ill. I knew that he didn’t have much time left. And then, COVID-19 happened. I didn’t know that I’d be stuck there for a year. I didn’t have access to a ring in my home city of Chandigarh. But I was excited to return to IMPACT Wrestling and mix it up with all of the new faces in the company,” the IMPACT Wrestling superstar told Sportskeeda in an interview.
One of Shera’s primary attributes is he likes to use the energy of the crowd and channelise it to his performance on the ring. However, due to pandemic based rules and restrictions, his return to the ring happened without any crowd support. But the Indian wrestling star was not disheartened as he feels that with or without the crowd he has only one motive of destroying the opposition.
“Crowd or no crowd, you have to do the same thing – destroy the opposition. I always think to myself, that if the wrestling is good, the audience will find a way to watch the action.”
Over the years the Lion of India has mastered his skills and maintains himself up to the mark so he can go out there and perform. Shera reveals how he works very hard on himself and therefore his moniker justifies his nature.
“I call myself a lion for good reason. I do not just say it for no reason. I work incredibly hard on the way I look. I work on my aggression. I work on my character. I am representing India every time I am out there. I have to make it count,” He concluded.
