    May 13, 2020

Top wrestler and Olympic bronze medal winner Sakshi Malik qualification road to 2020 Tokyo Olympic games has never been a smooth ride.

Following her defeat to teenage sensation Sonam Malik in the Asian Olympic qualifying trials, nervousness was written all over her face as she awaited the results of the tournament, which would be a crucial decider if she was to compete at the dying minute of the world qualifiers.

India went into lockdown on the 25th of March, which was extended further twice. All these while, Sakshi has been indoors at her home in Rohtak, Haryana, where she has been training alone.

Malik admitted she had lacked fitness in some specific areas and quickly realized that the Locked-down might not end soon. “When all these began, I thought at first that I would just be indoors for only 15 days. I just finally admitted that training must continue with or without my partner, and the days kept on elongating, and I had no option than to train indoors”. She said.

The 27-year-old admitted her life always has been about traveling for.the past 15 years, which includes events, training camp’s home and abroad as she isn’t used to a sitting at home. ” I hope all these ends and life goes on as usual”. She added
