Andrey Rublev sheds light on Novak Djokovic-Andy Murray link-up, says it will be interesting

Russia’s Andrey Rublev has opened up on Novak Djokovic appointing Andy Murray as his new coach. Djokovic parted ways with his former coach Goran Ivanisevic in March and since then he has been playing without any coach.

Murray will take over as Djokovic’s coach in the next season and it will be interesting to note how this new partnership will go about their business. The Brit has all the experience on the tour and knows about the Serbian’s strengths and weaknesses.

Rublev feels the good bond between Djokovic and Murray will keep them in good stead.

“No reaction. In my case, if I’ll be honest, I don’t care so I had no reaction at all. It’s going to be fun. Novak is one of the best players ever played, so I don’t know if Andy can give him something. But for sure, the good thing is that they are good friends and sometimes the energy gives even more at this level,” Rublev said on Tennis Weekly podcast.

Rublev feels Andy Murray’s appointment as Djokovic’s coach is not good for other players as it will bring new energy to the Serbian.

“Players like Novak, when they know everything, they know this sport better than everyone, the energy in that kind of points makes huge difference. I think if they are good friends, it can be something new, like maybe Novak will feel more fresh and more pumped, which is not good for the rest of the players,” he added.

The Russian said it will be interesting to note how Murray would handle the pressure when Djokovic would loss his cool on the court.

“But it’s going to be fun because I would like to see Andy now because he was this kind of player who like to sometimes give not good comments to his team and I would like to see if Novak will give him not nice comment because Novak can also sometimes be emotional and I would like to know what Andy feels at that moment,” he said.

Djokovic will take part in the Brisbane Open in 2025 to kick off his season.
