Carlos Alcaraz is confident that he will win the Australian Open sooner rather than later. Alcaraz has won the Roland Garros, US Open, and Wimbledon twice (2023 and 2024) in his young career. Thus, the Spaniard needs to win the Australian Open to become a Career Grand Slam champion.
Alcaraz suffered a quarterfinal loss against Alexander Zverev in the 2024 Australian Open and he will be determined to go all the way in Happy Slam in the next season.
“I am sure that I will be champion of Australia sooner or later. Let’s hope it is this year (2025),” said Alcaraz before his exhibition match against Ben Shelton at the Madison Square Gardens. “For me, it is very important to complete the remaining Slams.”
The Spaniard registered a 4-6 6-2 [7-4] win against the American and he will look to keep up the good show in 2025.
Alcaraz recently announced that Samuel Lopez will be his secondary coach with Juan Carlos Ferrero remaining as his primary coach and said he will look to keep improving as a player.
“I think Samuel, for me, is one of the best coaches that we have on Tour,” said Alcaraz. “They (Ferrero and Lopez) trust each other 100 per cent and being able to travel with both, for me, it’s going to be great.
“I think I’m going to grow as a player thanks to them. I think we are going to work pretty hard and pretty good for the next season and the next years. Hopefully, we are going to make good results together.”
Alcaraz will not play any lead-up tournaments before the Australian Open 2025 in Melbourne.
