Dominic Thiem predicts how many Grand Slam titles both Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner will win across their careers

Former US Open champion Dominic Thiem has predicted that Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner could win between 15 and 20 Grand Slam titles in their respective careers. So far, Alcaraz has won five Majors, whereas Sinner has won four Slams.

Alcaraz and Sinner are currently the two best players on the tour and they are ticking all the right boxes. The duo is also pushing each other to the limits and has won the last seven Slams on the tour.

The Austrian reckons it would be difficult for Alcaraz and Sinner to go past Novak Djokovic’s tally of 24 Majors.

Dominic Thiem said on Business of Sports, “I don’t know.”

However, he then added: “I think honestly, Novak’s record is going to be very tough to break. But they will both finish on between 15 and 20, I would say.”

Then asked if they need one another to maintain their dominance, Thiem said: “I think so, yes. He has five slams right now and Jannik four, so if it was 5-0 or something, I don’t think he would go with the same focus into the US Open as he is now.

“If everything is going normally, they are probably going to play the final again, and if they want to get to the numbers of the big three in Slam titles, every single Slam counts. That is why I think both of them go with a different focus in every big tournament.”

Meanwhile, Alcaraz hasn’t dropped a single set en route to the semifinal of the ongoing US Open. The Spaniard will face Novak Djokovic in the semis, whereas Sinner will take on in-form Felix Auger-Aliassime on Friday.
