Frances Tiafoe says Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner are not unbeatable

Frances Tiafoe has downplayed the idea that World No.1 Carlos Alcaraz and World No.2 Jannik Sinner are unbeatable. Carlos Alcaraz has 12,050 official points under his belt, whereas Sinner, the second-ranked player in the PIF ATP rankings, has 11,500 points. The World No.3 Alexander Zverev has 5160 points in his bag and this goes to show the difference between the duo’s level and others.

There is no doubt that Alcaraz and Sinner are well ahead of the rest of the players and they have dominated the tour. The duo has also shared the last eight Slams between them in the last two years. Alcaraz has a 10-6 Win-Loss record in head-to-head battle against Sinner. 

Frances Tiafoe said on the Served podcast, “In comparison to the Big Four, I think Carlos is a combination of all of them.”

Tiafoe compared Jannik Sinner’s movement on the court with Novak Djokovic and Andre Agassi.

“And Sinner with the Novak movement and Agassi-like with everything on the hop and just playing super fast and you feel like you can’t see any space against him.”

“It seriously is open from No. 3 to 200 with the guy (Vacherot) winning Shanghai. It’s open, so, it’s exciting times in that sense.”

“I still don’t think these guys are unbeatable. I struggle to believe that,” he added.

Tiafoe said he had a golden opportunity to go past Carlos Alcaraz at Wimbledon last year but could not do so.

“I’ve played Carlos twice (at Majors) and he won both Slams and I lost to him in five. Missed out on it. I’ve got to be honest with you. Last year at Wimbledon, I feel that’s when I let one go,” Tiafoe told Andy Roddick on the ‘Served’ podcast.

Tiafoe has a 1-2 record against Alcaraz, whereas the American has a 1-4 record against Sinner.
