Italian Jannik Sinner has been the centre of all attraction in the last week and he has deserved every bit of it. Sinner bagged his maiden ATP title after defeating Vasek Pospisil by 6-4, 3-6, 7-6 to clinch the Sofia Open. Consequently, the 19-year old talented became the first player born after 2001 to win an ATP title.
Sinner had to battle hard for his maiden title but he was delighted to end on the right side of the result. The youngster had his work cut out against an experienced Vasek Pospisil however he brought his A game to the table.
Sinner felt special after his first win and he will be looking to continue the good show. The Italian added he fought for every point.
“It is always special when you win tournaments. I felt well this week. Playing finals like this, 7-6 is always tough. But when you win, it is an even better win than winning 6-1, 6-1. I am happy how I tried to stay there at every point and I think it’s a very special week for me,” said Sinner.
Sinner was not a favourite to win the Sofia Open but he showed that he is one of the most exciting talents in the Tennis world. On the other hand, Sinner added it is a great feeling to end the year with the tournament win. Furthermore, he stated he will try to start even better in the next year and continue the good form in 2021.
“It is a great feeling ending the year with a tournament win. Now I think the hard work is going to start once more. I am going to start even better next year than I did this year,” added the 19-year-old.
Sinner has shown the skills and temperament to go a long way in his career. The youngster has worked hard and he has reaped rewards for the same. Sinner still has a long way to go and he will look to continue doing the hard work.
