Daniil Medvedev and Stefanos Tsitsipas have qualified for the Nitto ATP Finals, which will be played at Pala Alpitour in Turin from 14-21 November after the conclusion of the US Open. This will be the third consecutive ATP Finals event for Medvedev and Tsitsipas.
Both of these players have become the second and third players to qualify after Novak Djokovic had become the first one to do so. Djokovic had secured his place after winning the first three slams of the season and will take part in his 14th season finale. Furthermore, Djokovic will have a chance to equal Roger Federer’s record of winning six Nitto ATP Finals.
ATP final which is the last major tournament of the season is contested between the top eight ranked players in the rankings.
Meanwhile, Daniil Medvedev won his first major title as he defeated Novak Djokovic in straight sets in the final of the US Open. On the other hand, Stefanos Tsitsipas had lost to Novak Djokovic in the final of the Roland Garros. Thus, both of these youngsters have been consistent in the 2021 season.
Furthermore, Medvedev recently won his fourth ATP 1000 Masters title in Toronto as he lifted National Bank Open trophy. The Russian has a 47-10 record in 2021 and he will look to defend his Nitto ATP Finals title in Turin in November.
“I look forward to trying and defending my title in Turin,” Medvedev said. “Italian fans are so passionate, I am sure it will be a great event.”
“It is great to qualify for Turin so early, I can’t wait to play there,” Tsitsipas said. “Forming incredible memories in London two years ago has been a highlight in my career.”
Medvedev is currently placed at the second place in the ATP rankings whereas Tsitsipas occupies the third position.
