Carlos Alcaraz has said his goal is to complete the Grand Slam in Melbourne in the Australian Open. The Spaniard, who is the four-time Slam champion, has won the French Open, US Open, and Wimbledon twice in his promising young career.
The youngster suffered a quarter-final loss against Alexander Zverev in the Happy Slam in 2024 and he will look to go all the way in the next season.
“I have it in mind, I have in mind to tattoo the kangaroo,” said Alcaraz on Marca. “I’m going to try to make a good vacation first. For me it is super important to be able to disconnect from tennis.
“And to return fresh to the pre-season so that it is brilliant, brutal, to arrive in Australia in the best possible way both tennis, physical and mental. The goal is to complete the ‘Grand Slam’ in Melbourne.”
Alcaraz has a win percentage of 70% at the Australian Open whereas it is 87% at the other three Majors.
The Spaniard is currently in Turin for the Nitto ATP Finals. Alcaraz has Casper Ruud, Andrey Rublev and Alexander Zverev in his group.
Alcaraz also said he feels fresher than last season at the fag end of the year despite scheduling on the tour.
“I already said last year that I wanted to be better in this part of the season, to play better tennis, to be better physically and above all mentally, to arrive fresher at this stage,” he said.
“I’m not going to say that I’m completely fresh, but I’m fresher than last year.
“I’d say that I’m arriving at this tournament, which is the penultimate one, in pretty good shape.
“Little things are coming up, but they’re normal.
“I’m facing it motivated and wanting to play good tennis.”
The four-time Slam champion will begin his ATP Finals campaign against Casper Ruud on Monday.
