Australian southpaw opener David Warner has shed light on the similarities between him and Indian captain Virat Kohli. Warner believes he and Kohli are at their best when the opposition is challenging them or the crowd is against them. We have seen in the past that both of these players have performed at their best when the opposition has tried to get under their skin.
The Indian captain Virat Kohli thrives on the challenges and he likes to take them head on. Kohli is never far away from verbal battles and he likes to take the bull by its horns. In fact, the challenge or the verbal arguments serves as a fuel for Kohli’s car.
The talisman is known to give his 120% on the field and he never backs down from the contest. Kohli is always ready for a battle and he gives his all.
On the other hand, David Warner is also quite similar. In fact, Warner has settled down a bit after his ball-tampering ban. In fact, both Warner and Kohli were involved in verbal battles when India had toured Australia back in 2014.
“I thrive on the crowd, I thrive on people sort of going at me in the field. And getting into that battle. I think Virat is quite similar, if you go a little bit at Virat he comes out harder with the bat and he plays amazing. We have seen that time and time again,” Warner was quoted as saying by India Today.
In fact, Warner also said that it won’t be a guile decision to sledge Virat Kohli as he gets more pumped if there is poke from the opposition. Kohli had also got involved in a verbal spat with Australian captain Tim Paine on the previous tour of 2018-19.
Meanwhile, Matthew Wade had also recently stated that the Australian team will not look to sledge Virat Kohli and Co. as they are really smart with their sledging.
On the other hand, Virat Kohli and David Warner will be up against one another in India’s upcoming tour of Australia. The visitors will play four Test matches and the first one will take place at Brisbane, Gabba from December 3.
Warner had missed the previous series due to his ball tampering ban and he would aim to be at his best whereas India will look to retain the Border-Gavaskar trophy.
