India’s opening batsman KL Rahul has warned that if England try to target one of their players and then the rest of the 10 players will come back right at them.
Things got heated on the final day of the Test match when James Anderson and Mark Wood tried to upset Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah.
Subsequently, Bumrah was involved in a heated argument with Jos Buttler. However, the Indian team gave it back to England when it was their turn to field. Jasprit Bumrah, who is mostly calm, was fired up and gave a send-off to Rory Burns as he dismissed him in the first over. Shami was then able to dismiss Dom Sibley with a peach of a delivery.
Mohammed Siraj was also fired up and was seen having continuous chatter with the England batsmen. On the other hand, Virat Kohli, who is known to take the bull by its horns, was always trying to get under the skin of the opposition.
There were a lot of heated arguments on the final day between the two teams and India were able to take advantage.
Meanwhile, KL Rahul was awarded the Player of the match for scoring 129 runs in the first innings, which helped India in setting up a total of 364 runs in the first innings. Rahul has grabbed his chances with both hands and has been in sublime form. The Indian opener has scored 244 runs in two Test matches and has played a key role in providing a good start to the team.
KL Rahul said in the post-match presentation, “I’ve been looking at it every morning to see if they’ve put it on permanently. They haven’t – it’s still a temporary piece of paper (name on the honours boards). To put on 360 on the board was really crucial, very happy.
Been here for a couple of months now and been working really hard on our skills. Even in the first game at Trent Bridge the batsmen have shown a lot of discipline. That’s what you expect with two competitive teams – great skills, and a few words as well. We don’t mind some banter. You go after one of our guys and all XI of us will come back”.
India will want to carry the same momentum whereas Rahul will look to continue his good form.
