India’s talisman all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has recalled the lowest point of his career. Jadeja reminisced that he couldn’t sleep properly when he was dropped from the Indian team back in 2016.
The all-rounder was not getting his chances in the overseas Test matches and couldn’t even play in the domestic circuit as he was traveling with the team.
Subsequently, Jadeja was dropped from India’s limited overs team after the 2017 Champions Trophy as Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal had grabbed their respective opportunities.
“Honestly, those one-and-a-half years were filled with sleepless nights. Through that phase, I remember I would be up till 4-5 am. I would be thinking about what to do, how am I going to bounce back? I couldn’t sleep. I would be lying down but jaaga hi rehta tha (would remain awake).
“I was in the Test squad but not playing as we played a lot overseas. I wasn’t playing ODIs. I wasn’t playing domestic too as I would be travelling with the Indian team though not playing. I wasn’t getting any opportunity to prove myself. I would keep thinking about how I am going to come back,” Ravindra Jadeja told The Indian Express.
However, Jadeja made a roaring comeback in the white-ball team as he grabbed his chances with both hands. In fact, the all-rounder improved his batting skills and delivered the goods for the team in all the conditions. Thus, Jadeja has been an integral part of the team in all the three formats of the game and he has done a fine job.
On the other hand, Jadeja was in red-hot form in IPL 2021 while playing for Chennai Super Kings. Jadeja scored 131 runs in six innings at an average of 131 and a strike rate of 161.72. Furthermore, he scalped six wickets in seven matches for CSK.
Meanwhile, Jadeja will hold the key for the Indian team in the upcoming World Test Championship final against New Zealand, which will take place at the Ageas Bowl, Southampton from June 18.
