ILT20 2025: Tim Southee lauds Tom Kohler-Cadmore after win against Gulf Giants

Sharjah Warriorz captain Tim Southee showered praise on Tom Kohler-Cadmore after a thrilling three-wicket win against Gulf Giants at the: Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai in the ongoing ILT20 on Sunday. 

Kohler-Cadmore scored an unbeaten knock of 83 runs off 56 balls with the help of six fours and four sixes while chasing 175. The Warriorz needed 10 runs off the last over but the Englishman was able to get his team over the line on the final ball of the game.

The Giants posted a fighting score of 174 runs on the board after Southee won the toss and decided to bowl first. Rehan Ahmed top-scored with 46 runs whereas Jordan Cox and Shimron Hetmyer scored 38 and 36 runs respectively.

Southee reckons they conceded a few more runs in the last overs but hailed Tom Kohler-Cadmore for his match-winning knock.

The New Zealand veteran said, “Nice close one, good to be on the right side of this one early in the tournament. I thought we conceded 5-10 too much in the end, but the way TKC batted was brilliant. We have a deep batting line-up, and you see the value of taking wickets consistently. Nice to get on the right side of this result though. Last night there was more swing, it nipped a bit more. This was a better wicket.”

On the other hand, Tom Kohler-Cadmore was delighted to help his team get the win and said he wanted to take the onus on his shoulders.

Cadmore said after the win, “It was great to get off with a start. Would have been devasted if we messed that up. Wanted to take full responsibility for the last over. Knew I needed one six, and that last over Aayan didn’t miss by much. Outstanding to see someone bowl such a clutch over. Some swing early on, but I thought it was a really nice cricket wicket. It was a nice chill build-up to this tournament, we got here a week ago and have been bonding well.”

Sharjah Warriorz will next take on Abu Dhabi Knight Riders at Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi on Wednesday.
