Mumbai Indians gun fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah reckons the team doesn’t need to make any drastic changes in the team.
Mumbai lost their previous match against Rajasthan Royals by eight wickets as Ben Stokes and Sanju Samson had put together a fine partnership of 152 runs. However, Bumrah feels there is no need to hit the panic buttons yet.
Mumbai has won seven matches out of the 11 they have played and they are currently at the top of the points table with 14 points. The defending champions look all set to qualify for the playoff stages as they still have three matches to play. Two wins will help them secure the playoffs berth and Mumbai will aim to come up with complete performances in the coming matches.
However, hamstring injury to their full-time skipper Rohit Sharma is a cause of concern for Mumbai. Rohit has always been instrumental in the success of the team and the team management will hope that the talisman recuperates for the playoff stages.
Bumrah added that Mumbai is still clear in their thought process and they are happy with where they are placed currently.
“We are still very happy, we are still very clear and we have nothing that we have to change drastically, it is just that on one day the opposition played better than you, you have to just say well played and move forward,” Bumrah said on the eve of the game against Royal Challengers Bangalore.
On the other hand, Bumrah revealed that he tries to keep things simple and takes into account the conditions which are on offer. The ace paceman added that he makes his plans accordingly while bowling at the opposition.
“It depends on different people how they treat it, but for me I just try to keep things simple, try to assess the wicket, situation, the boundary sizes and all of that and then choose my options. It’s very difficult to just say oh you should bowl yorkers, you should just bowl slower ones, you have to be very proactive, smart with what approach you want to have and what the wicket is helping as well, so all of these things I keep in mind,” added Bumrah.
Jasprit Bumrah has once again done a fine job for Mumbai Indians as he has scalped 17 wickets in 11 matches. Ergo, he would like to continue the good show for the reigning champions. Bumrah is the pack leader of the squad and James Pattinson and Trent Boult have also delivered the goods for the team.
Mumbai Indians will next face Royal Challengers Bangalore at Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi on Wednesday.
