Former Australian skipper Michael Clarke has rated Jasprit Bumrah as the greatest bowler ever across all three formats of the game. Bumrah had a sensational Border-Gavaskar series against Australia as he was right on the money.
The Indian gun fast bowler bagged 32 wickets in five Test matches at an average of 13.06 and thus was awarded Player of the Series. Bumrah also returned with impressive figures of 8-72 in the opening match of the series and played an instrumental role in India’s commanding 295-run win.
Bumrah also completed 200 Test wickets during the Australia series as he became the only bowler to average less than 20 after the milestone.
“I’m a big one for Man of the Match or Player of the Series, I think should always go to the winning team, but I think they made the right decision. Bumrah was the Player of the Series,” Clarke said on the Beyond23 Cricket podcast.
Clarke tipped Bumrah as the greatest among the bowlers who played all three formats of the game.
“Any bowler that has played all three formats, so not Curtly Ambrose, Wasim Akram, Glenn McGrath, they never got to play 20-20 cricket, I’m not talking about those guys. Since T20 came in with ODIs and Tests, I think Jasprit Bumrah is the greatest bowler ever across all 3 formats. He is that good,” Clarke added.
The 2015 World Cup-winning Aussie captain rated Bumrah as India’s most important player right now.
“I’ve always loved Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. I think Jasprit Bumrah is India’s most important player right now.”
Bumrah has been bowling like a dream and he would want to carry the same form after recovering from back injury.
