The Indian captain Virat Kohli believes the World Test Championship final against New Zealand will be challenging for his team. Kohli and Co.
left for England yesterday and they will undergo another quarantine of 10 days. Thus, the Indian team will be able to start their practice from June 13.
The Indian players will lack match practice as they last played in the Indian Premier League. However, Kohli is confident of his team doing well and stated that he has no issues with his team getting only four practice sessions.
Kohli added that he wants his team to enjoy the WTC final against the Kiwis and there is no pressure. The Indian skipper stated that he wants to take the Indian cricket forward.
“WTC final will be challenging for the team. But it’s time to enjoy what we’ve done in past years. There’s no pressure on me and there won’t be in the future. It’s the final, so it’s time to enjoy it,” Virat Kohli said in the pre-departure presser.
“It’s a great opportunity to reflect and relax. Just for the guys to roam around freely, considering that we will have a five-Test series coming. It will give us time to regroup and that is required before an important series like this,” said Kohli when asked about the long gap between the WTC final and England series.
Meanwhile, New Zealand will be better prepared for the WTC final as they will play two Test matches against England before the big match. However, Kohli is optimistic that his team will do well in the English conditions.
Kohli said, “Don’t board the flight if you think New Zealand have an extra edge in the finals.”
The Indian team will look to come up with a collective effort in the WTC final and they will need to hit the ground running in England. The WTC final will take place at Ageas Bowl, Southampton from June 18.
