Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva has acknowledged that his team is completely out of the Premier League title race. The Cityzens are going through a rough patch and nothing seems to working right for them.
The Sky Blues have managed two wins in their last 14 matches with nine losses and three draws and they are currently in sixth place in the Premier League standings. Pep Guardiola’s men have failed to bring their best and they have looked vulnerable even against the bottom-half teams.
Meanwhile, City were crowned champions for the third season in a row in the previous season and fifth in six years but they haven’t looked at their best in the ongoing season.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Silva admitted: “Right now it’s about accepting the reality. I’m not looking at Liverpool, I’m sixth or seventh in the league. I cannot be looking at Liverpool or Arsenal or whatever. I’m looking right now at the next game, try and win three points to be fifth, to be fourth and to be third. And then ten games from the end of the season you can start making a little bit of math to see where you can go.”
He added: “I would say [the Premier League title is] not impossible because in football there are no impossibles, but right now, Man City is completely out of the title race. There’s no question about that. It’s too late for us. People always say that you don’t win a league until January but you can lose it, and this season the reality is we’ve lost it.”
The Cityzens have failed to come up with a collective effort and the same is palpable in the way they are approaching the games.
Manchester City will next take on West Ham at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday.
