Hockey India in collaboration with SAI to organize online coaches development sessions

The Hockey India and Sports Authority of India [SAI] has decided to make good use of this lockdown effect by announcing on Saturday introducing the 21-day Coaching Development Session [CDS], which is an integral part of the Massive Open Online Course [ MOOC] workshop for coaches.

The initiative was launched on the 16th of April by the SAI to equip coaches with intensive in-depth knowledge about the game of Hockey.

The essence of these online education sessions is to provide high-level knowledge to coaches through video conference. Since the availability of these coaches is present at different levels, the coaches development session will be divided into two coaching sessions which are LEVEL BASIC COACHING SESSIONS and INTERMEDIATE COACHING SESSIONS, and the Hockey India Foreign National Team Coaches, Scientific Advisors, and Director High performance will be the one to direct proceedings.

To begin with, the Level Basic Coaching Sessions will be organized by the Coach of the Hockey Junior Women’s team – Erik Wonink. This will feature noncandidates of SAI accredited hockey coaches.

These sets of coaches have been handed the opportunity to register for the sessions irrespective of their qualifications and will complete their registration by the Hockey India on the Hockey India Online Academy Platform. The level Basic coaching sessions will hold from Monday [today] to Friday between the hours of 0:900- 10:00 (IST).

Furthermore, the Level Intermediate Coaching sessions will be handled by the India Hockey Men’s Team coach Graham Reid and Chief coach India Hockey Women’s team Sjoerd Marijne, Analytical Coach India men’s hockey team Chris Ciriello, Robin Arkell, and Wayne Lombard who are Scientific advisor of the Men’s and women’s coaching team.

The candidates qualified for this session will be SAI accredited coaches who have successfully undergone the Hockey India level 1 certification or at a higher level. This session will hold from Monday (today) to Friday between the hours of 14:30-15:30 [IST].

The Hockey India and the SAI will hope this online training session will help them get new insights as to how to prepare their athletes and keep them in top conditions.
