In a landmark move to boost sports infrastructure in the nation’s capital, Lieutenant Governor (L-G) V.K. Saxena inaugurated India’s longest golf course in Dwarka on Wednesday.
The state-of-the-art 18-hole course spans 7,377 yards and is situated in Sector 24, Dwarka. It is part of a larger initiative by the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) to establish world-class sports facilities across Delhi.
The sprawling 158-acre facility boasts several standout features, including the country’s longest driving range at 375 yards, equipped with 52 practice bays. Its fairways are laid with North Shore SLT grass, a first in India.
Developed at a cost of ₹250 crore, the golf course caters to both recreational and professional players and includes plans for a Golf Academy aimed at nurturing talent and serving as a center of excellence.
A Milestone for Delhi Sports Infrastructure
At the inauguration ceremony, L-G Saxena highlighted the significance of the project, praising it as a major addition to Delhi’s sports infrastructure.
“This golf course is a testament to the success of the Fit India Movement, launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2019, which has inspired the youth and enhanced India’s global sporting achievements,” he said.
Saxena also commended the DDA for completing the ambitious project in record time.
Prominent Delhi MPs Kamaljeet Sehrawat and Ramvir Singh Bidhuri were present at the event, alongside several dignitaries and sports enthusiasts.
In addition to the golf course, the facility includes a modern clubhouse, restaurants, conference halls, and a swimming pool. It is equipped with advanced water conservation systems to ensure sustainable maintenance. The course offers flexible options for players, including pay-and-play facilities and tenure-based playing rights for three or five years.
This golf course is part of DDA’s comprehensive plan to enhance sports infrastructure in Delhi. The authority is also working on developing Centres of Excellence for multiple disciplines to foster athletic talent. The initiative shows Delhi’s commitment to providing world-class sporting opportunities and creating a culture of fitness and recreation.
With the inauguration of this premier facility, Delhi is set to strengthen its position as a hub for sports and leisure, encouraging greater participation in golf and other disciplines across all age groups.
